3. Found Paddle Boat on W. Lake Desire Drive SE – A neighbor on W. Lake Desire walked down to their dock on August 23rd and found a paddle boat attached to the neighbor dock, a vacant piece of land whose owners are not present often. Is this yours? Picture attached. Please email Jen Samson at scrappyrunner@gmail.com if it is yours to retrieve. Thanks!

4. New Neighbor Articles – welcome to the neighborhood!
Today is just another sunshine day perfect for greeting our newest neighbor on south drive next door to Steven and Grace Eng who was kind enough to let me know. Rod Beltran moved to Lake Desire several weeks ago from Seattle. When I asked him what attracted him to our area, he said that his father who lives close by, was getting on in years and Rod wanted to move closer to help care for him. Rod works for Amazon and is the father of two, a girl 13 and a boy 11. He said that he will enjoy the space his new home offers for the children. For hobbies, he enjoys sports such as basketball and volleyball. I told Rod about our annual neighborhood dine out and am hoping he will be able to attend our Tuesday evening celebration at the club house, mingle with our friendly group and enjoy some great food :).

Please let me know if you have a new neighbor or baby to welcome to our area. Blessings, Susan Hill.....LD Greeter bellafloragirl@yahoo.com

A huge welcome to our new neighbors on east drive.  Next to Suzy Gillett, our LD Vice-Pres, lives Stephanie and Wade Huber.  This friendly couple moved here from Mercer Island.  They were drawn to our peaceful and friendly area and found their dream home.....a waterfront 5,600 sq ft castle with a magnificent view, which I enjoyed so much when I visited them.  I had to laugh when Wade told me he described their home to friends in California as a "cabin in the woods with plumbing".

Stephanie is General Manager at the Islander Restaurant on Mercer Island and Wade is sales exec for a California high tech designer of cellular based devices.   They are parents to fifteen year old Samantha who is available for baby sitting in our area.  Their sweet and friendly dog Lily, is the "cavachon royalty diva" in the family according to Stephanie and Wade.  They both enjoy fishing our lake and Wade even sport fishes yearly in Alaska.  He is open for joining or starting a "garage poker night" or slow pitching at our park.  Already he has volunteered to join Roger in our LD water treatment and abatement.  We are so grateful to get new neighbors who are anxious to get involved.

Some of you who attended our annual Tuesday BBQ at LD may have been fortunate enough to meet both Ron Beltran as well as Stephanie and Wade.  We hope all of our new neighbors will be able to attend some of our meetings to keep abreast of happenings and changes in our community.  If you have not had the opportunity to see our updates and new floor in the clubhouse, you are in for a pleasant surprise.  If you need a rental, it is the perfect place.  Blessings to all,  Susan Hill  LD Greeter

Please see the website if you would like to attend the opening or volunteer time to this worthy cause. Thank you! http://www.rentonyac.org/

August 16 Updates
1. Lake Desire Summer BBQ/Open House recap - We had a GREAT turnout at last week’s potluck barbecue, thank you to everyone who came out to join us for the fun evening. There were more than 60 neighbors at the event, and many new faces. Special thanks go to Thom and Judy Rohm for helping set up and providing fun kids activities. Thanks go to the Gillett family for helping set up and to Donna Snure, Tammie Cook and all others who helped clean up We will post a picture soon that we took that evening on our website: http://www.lakedesire.org/ We will look forward to next summer’s event for sure!

2. Weed Abatement Update - 2nd Water Lily spraying is being planned for Aug. 20th.  Signs will be posted around the lake on Aug.18th or 19th.  We could use a couple more helpers to put up some signs.  If you’re interested in helping, contact Roger Danneman 425-228-8781 or roger.danneman@q.com. A contractor with an air boat will be doing the water lily spraying.  The air boat is rather noisy, so I wanted everyone to know.  Ben is also planning on a follow up-spraying of the purple loosestrife that same day, so will be walking some of the shorelines. If questions, please contact Roger at roger.danneman@q.com.

5. Theft on Lake Desire – Just a caution to everyone in the neighborhood to keep things locked up.  We had some item stolen from a storage shed that we neglected to lock while we were out of town for a few days.
A STHIL backpack blower, STHIL 14 “ chainsaw, Craftsman gas weedeater and hedge trimmer attachment, a portable band saw.  We live in a great neighborhood but we need to look out for each other and try to avoid becoming easy targets.  Submitted by Linda and Kevin Thomaier, W Lake Desire Dr SE.
